• Manchester

    manchester-united.altimgManchester is famous for two things;

    1. I was born and raised there :)
    2. Manchester United, once the best club in the world but having a few challenges now.

    I moved to Suffolk many years ago but haven’t forgotten where I came from. Over the years though I have been back on many occasions mainly for family events but more recently it has been less frequently. In January I was back there for a day visiting the client for my current project. Took the train up to Piccadilly and spent the morning around there. Before my train back I have a couple of hours spare and took a wander around the place. Considering that Piccadilly station is the main one in the city you would think that the area around it would something special, but in fact you will be very disappointed.

    I wandered around for a while but everywhere I went it looked very run down and neglected. The whole area just needs a lot TLC, loads of rubbish around. It was a great shame to see the place like that. I am sure there are areas which are much better looked after but what I saw didn’t inspire me to return very soon.

    Hopefully I just saw it on an off day.

  • Recent Riots

    It’s been a crazy week in England this past week with all the riots taking place and it is now over a week since the original shooting which sparked of the first set, but since then it has clearly just been riots for the sake of trouble and the chance to loot many of the places these people rely on for their daily lives!

    Earlier today cam across a new blog about London and things happening there, http://www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/. What drew me to the site was this particular blog post focusing on the visit to the Brompton Road tube station which is disused. Some excellent photos and some good history about the underground there.

  • The wonders of London …

    When you work in London you often forget what is around you and what wonderful historic architecture exists. The main aim is normally to get from A to B as quickly as possible and then home or back to the hotel. In the winter that’s all you want to do anyway.

  • Bright lights of the city…

    The number of times I have been to London and very rarely look around, just go to work head home or stay over for a night. Even when staying over end up working late and then going straight back to the hotel.

  • London at night

    Staying in London tonight and was working late. From the 13th floor is fantastic looking out across London at night on a clear warm night, do like it!

    Left it late to book a room and ended up over at Euston station. Got here about 9pm and then headed over the road for something to eat. Went for a walk after dinner down Euston road and it is rare that you walk slow enough to notice the surroundings. So much history in such a short distance, pity never get enough time to really investigate, one day maybe.
